Carmelite NGO
to Present
Possibilities for Networking
at Fatima Course for
Justice and Peace
Workers
|
|
The Carmelite NGO provides the Carmelite perspective on issues before the United Nations. It also provides a network for Carmelites who are involved in specific justice and peace issues.
How this can be done
will be discussed at the
course, Promoting
Justice and Peace in a
Globalized World, to
be held in Fatima,
Portugal July 31 -
August 15.
The course is being
sponsored by the
International Justice
and Peace Commission
and members of the

Social
Justice
Ministry
from the
Cloister
Is is
possible for
a cloistered
Carmelite
nun to be
involved in
social
justice
work?
As we begin
the
commemoration
of the 400th anniversary of the death of St. Mary Magdalene de'Pazzi,
it is
worth taking
another look
at the
saint's
writings to
see how she
became a
saint in the
cloister
while
"speaking
out" on
issues of
the day.

What is
a
DPI/NGO?
The
Carmelite
NGO is a
new
ministry
for the
Carmelite
Family
and
needs to
be
studied
to
understand
how it
can be
useful
to
Carmelites
and
Carmelite
ministries
around
the
world.
Here is
a simple
explanation
of the
purpose
and work
of an
NGO
affiliated
to the
Department
of
Public
Information
(DPI) of the
United
Nations. |

Vatican
at the
United
Nations
Although
not a
member
of the
United
Nations,
the
Vatican,
as the
"Holy
See", is
a
permanent
observer
at this
global
body.
The
Vatican's
representatives
speak
out on
issues
of
interest
to the
Vatican.
Here is
a sample
of those
statements
which
also
touch
upon
issues
of
interest
to
Carmelites
