TO ROME' STAZIONI TERMINI
From Romes Fiumicino Airport (aka
DaVinci Airport)
Via the "Leonardo
Express" to Stazioni Termini (Rome's Main Train Station)
"Non stop" trains to Roma Termini leave Fiumicino Airport from 6:37 to 23:37 every 30
minutes. Fare is € 11.00 (2007
prices). Tickets
can be purchased at the railway station or in some of the newspaper
kiosks. The ticket must be 'stamped' in one of the
yellow machines BEFORE you board the train. These yellow machines
can be found hanging on the wall as you start walking down the train
platform and are marked with signs saying "Convalida bigletti/Ticket
Stamping". The ride takes about 35 minutes.
The
station is across from the terminals, accessible by walkway from the
upper (departure) level or by tunnel from the lower (arrival) level
between Terminals B and C.
One you arrive at "Termini" there are buses to all
parts of the city as well as a cab stand in the piazza in front of
the station. There is also a station for the Metro (Underground).

Cabs are available at Fiumicino/DaVinci Airport.
A word of caution about Roman cabs. Make sure you get a legitimate
taxi. Use only the white or yellow taxis with a meter. Do not accept
services of anyone walking up to you in the airport or train
station.
Fake cabs which prey
upon unsuspecting tourists are a big business in Rome!
Get a cab only at an official cab stand.
Fares start with a
flat rate of € 2.33 plus city fare (2003 prices). Surcharge fees are
applied for baggage and/or night runs on Sundays and holidays.
Via Bus (night service) to Stazioni
Termini (Rome's Main Train Station)
CO.TRA.L. bus service is
provided at night. Buses run at 1:15, 2:15, 3:30, and 5:00 AM. The
stop is close to the International Terminal Arrivals area. Tickets
can be bought on the bus and cost € 5.16 (2003 prices so the price
has certainly increased). The

One you arrive at "Termini" there is access to some buses, the
metro, or cabs for transportation to all parts of the city. However, depending
on the hour you arrive, busses will be on a reduced schedule and the metro
might not be running at all. Some cabs will be available..

From Romes Ciampino Airport
Via Taxi
From Ciampino airport to anywhere in Rome, the quickest way to
take a taxi. Taxis can be located out in front of the main terminal.
It is strongly
recommended that you use only the white or yellow taxis with meters.
(Fake cabs which prey upon unsuspecting tourist is big business in
Rome! Be especially wary if they offer their services inside the
airport.) The ride to Rome should be about 40 minutes and the fare
about €45.00. Surcharge fees may be applied for baggage and/or night
runs on Sundays and holidays.
Via Bus to the Rome Metro Stop 'Anagnina'
This requires you to take a bus from the airport to a stop on
the Rome underground or metro and then, depending on you final
destination, to either walk or take a city bus. The bus stop and ticket
vending machines are located next to the departure hall of the
international terminal of the airport. Buses begin leaving daily at 6:50
AM but the frequency depends on the day of the week and the time of day.
On a 'normal' day they run about every hour. The last bus leaves Ciampino at
23:40 each day.

From Ciampino Airport (aka
G.B. Pastine Airport)
Via Taxi
The best way to arrive at
the Carmelite house in Sassone from Ciampino Airport is by taxi. Taxis can be
found in
front of the main terminal.
It is strongly

Get a cab only at official cab stands! (Fake cabs which prey upon unsuspecting tourists are a major industry in
Rome! Be especially wary if someone offers their services inside the
airport.)
Via Bus to the Ciampino Stazione Ferroviaria (Train Station)
You can also take the bus (or taxi) to the Ciampino train station which is
the same line (Roma-Albano L.) that serves Sassone. You will need to take the train two stops
(in the direction of "Albano), to arrive at Sassone. Be sure to stamp
your ticket BEFORE getting on the train at a yellow machine hanging on the
wall at the train station.
When you get off the train at Sassone (There is no station, just a little
walkway along side the track), wait for the train to leave and then walk down to
the road crossing. Cross the tracks and walk along the wall. (Be careful of
the
oncoming traffic!) You will come to a gate for the "Istituto Il Carmelo". Ring the buzzer and someone will open the gate.
From
Rome's Stazioni Termini
From Stazioni Termini, you will want to take the
train with "Albano L." as the final destination. However, you will get
off at "Sassone" which is the 4th stop after leaving Rome.
Purchase a ticket at one of the many newspaper
stands in the station (approximate cost € 2,00). Ask for a '30 kilometer ticket' ('un
biglietto da trenta kilometri'). Make sure you 'validate' the ticket at any of the
yellow machines hanging on the pillars trackside BEFORE you board the Albano train.
The train to "Albano L." sometimes starts from a track
(#15 and #18) which does not
come all the way into the station. So you will need to walk down one
of the platforms to find the train. Just follow the signs.
When you get off the train at Sassone (There is no station, just a little

From Rome's Fiumicino Airport
Take the train "Leonardo Express" (see above) into Rome's Stazioni
Termini and then take the train on the "Rome-Albano L. line" (see above)
or take a taxi right from the airport to Sassone.

From Ciampino Airport
Follow the instructions above
for arriving in Rome from Ciampino. Then take Metro A (in the direction of "Battistini") exiting at "Lepanto."
Tickets can be purchased at almost any Tabacco Shop (such shops are
identified with a "T" on a sign at the door) and some newstands.
Walk down "Via Marco Antonio Colonna." Turn right at "Via Cola di
Rienzo" (the stop light). Take the third left ("Via Terenzio"). Go
straight on this street cross over "Via Crecenzio" and it will
become "Via Sforza Pallavicini."
CISA is on the corner of Via Sforza Pallavicini and Via Alberico
II. (The Order's shield is over the entrance way.)
The Domus Carmelitana is behind CISA. Turn left on Via Alberico
II and walk to the gate of the Domus. You cannot reach the Domus
from inside CISA.
From Rome's Stazioni Termini
At Stazioni Termini, take the "40" bus to the end of the line.
Exiting the bus, turn to your left and walk through the archway.
Continuing on straight, crossing one street, you come to Via
Alberico II.
CISA is the building on the corner of Via Alberico II and Via
Sforza Pallavicini. (The Order's shield is over the entrance to CISA.)
The Domus Carmelitana is to your right, at the back of the CISA
building. It has its own entrance and cannot be reached from inside
CISA.

Exiting from the front of Stazioni Termini, take a left and walk
along the side of the station (you will be on "Via Giovanni Giolitti")
to "Via Gioberti". This will empty into Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore
(one of the major basilicas of Rome so it is hard to miss). Work
your way around the outside sidewalk of the square, bearing to your
left. You will cross "Via Carlo Alberto." Take the next street ("Via
Merulana"), going away from the basilica. Take a right at "Largo
Brancaccio" which is the first set of traffic lights you will come
to. You will find "Via Giovanni Lanza" slightly ahead
after you leave the "Largo" and walk, literally, down the street
until you come to another piazza with a multi story tower that looks
like it is missing its castle. The entrance to the Curia
is the rod iron entry way to the building behind the tower. A statue
of Mary is above the door.
