Le Riunioni del Consiglio Generale in Ottobre 2005 Si sono appena conclusi i lavori del Consiglio Generale riunitosi in sessioni plenarie, dal 3 al 14 ottobre u.s. alla Curia. Il Consiglio ha valutato i questionari della Congregazione Generale, i quali fra l’altro erano molto positivi, ed ha preso le prime decisioni riguardanti il Capitolo Generale del 2007, come già menzionato nei bollettini precedenti. Presenti, ad una riunione del Consiglio Generale, erano P. Hugh Caravan, Delegato Generale della Colombia con una relazione sulla Delegazione Colombiana, P. Wilmar Santin che ha riportato le sue prime impressioni in quanto priore del CISA, sullo stato della Casa. P. Antonio Silva da Costa Jr., Segretario Esecutivo, ha descritto il recente lavoro dalla Commissione Generale di Giustizia e Pace. Il Consiglio ha inoltre esaminato in dettaglio il lavoro dei carmelitani alla NGO e ha riaffermato il suo contributo e sostegno alle Nazioni Unite. P. Patrick Mc Mahon ha partecipato in un’esame delle attività dell’Istituto Carmelitano. L’Economo Generale ha informato sullo stato dei lavori di riparazione che sono iniziati alla Domus e CISA . Sono stati approvati i budget di spesa per l’anno 2006 riguardanti la Curia e tutte le sue entità, quali CISA, l’Istitutum, CITOC, etc. Sono state definite le celebrazioni per l’anniversario del 2007 di Santa Maria Maddalena de’ Pazzi: inizieranno il 25 maggio 2006 con un pellegrinaggio al suo monastero a Firenze. Il Postulatore Generale ha presentato una interpretazione dell’articolo 224 delle Costituzioni che riguarda le votazioni nei capitoli e in altre riunioni. Verrà pubblicato nell’edizione 2005 di Analecta. I Consiglieri Generali hanno fornito dettagli sulle proprie attività nelle loro regioni di competenza. Momenti chiave sono stati il simposio sulla Regola a Lisieux, l’incontro dei formatori in Asia, la riattivazione del Commissariato Provinciale di Sumatra, i programmi per la formazione in America Latina, e il modo in cui la causa del Beato Titus Brandsma sta procedendo. Il Consiglio si è soffermato a discutere sulla Regola delle Monache, Famiglia Laica Carmelitana, notizie negli Stati Uniti e Italia e programmi per l’incontro delle due Regioni d’Europa nel 2006 .

celebradas en la Curia del 3 al 14 de octubre 2005. El Consejo ha examinado los
cuestionarios que se distribuyeron entre los presentes en la Congregación
General para evaluar la misma, constatando que han sido muy positivos; también
ha tomado las primeras decisiones respecto al Capítulo General 2007, como ya se
comunicó en los boletines precedentes.

October 2005 Sessions of the General Council The General Council has just concluded a series of plenary sessions which were held in the Curia from 3 to 14 October. The Council evaluated the questionnaires from the General Congregation, which were very positive, and made the first decisions regarding the General Chapter of 2007, as reported in earlier bulletins. The General Delegate of Colombia, Hugh Canavan was present for a discussion of the Delegation, and the newly arrived prior of CISA, Wilmar Santin, reported to the Council on his first impressions of the house. Antonio Silvio Da Costa Jr., Executive Secretary, described the recent work of the General Commission on Peace and Justice. The Council also examined in detail the work of the Carmelite NGO and reaffirmed its support and previous decisions regarding this important Carmelite contribution to the United Nations. Patrick McMahon took part in a review of the activities and plans of the Carmelite Institute. The Bursar General gave information on the repair works to the Domus and CISA, which have now begun. The budgets for the Curia and its dependent bodies, such as CISA, the Institute and CITOC, were approved for 2006. The celebrations of the anniversary of the death of St Mary Magadalen de’Pazzi in 2007 were outlined: they will begin on 25 May 2006 with a pilgrimage to her monastery in Florence. The Procurator General presented an authentic interpretation of article 224 of the Constitutions which deals with voting in chapters and other meetings. This will be published in the 2005 edition of Analecta. The General Councillors gave detailed reports on the activities in their regions. Key items were the symposium on the Carmelite Rule in Lisieux, the meeting of formators in Asia, the reactivation of the Provincial Commissariat of Sumatra, plans for formation in Latin America, and ways in which the cause of Bl. Titus Brandsma might be advanced. The Council also discussed progress on the Ratio for the Nuns, Lay Carmelite Family news in the US and Italy and plans for a meeting of the two regions of Europe in 2006.
