Carmel as a Sign of Hope and Healing in Our Troubled World
A Conference of the Carmelite Institute
Chicago, Illinois  -  July 21 -25, 2004

The Carmelite Institute will be hosting a major conference on "Carmel as a Sign of Hope and Healing in Our Troubled World" in Chicago, Illinois,
21-25 July 2004 at the Palmer House Hilton. Speakers will include the two Carmelite Fathers General (Luis Aróstegui Gamboa, OCD, and Joseph
Chalmers, O.Carm.); Mgr Jean Sleiman, OCD, the Latin Patriarch of Baghdad; Dianne Bergant, CSA, renowned biblical scholar; Quinn Conners,
O.Carm., and John Welch, O.Carm., of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Province; and many other notable Carmelites and non-Carmelites.
Participants will reflect together on the pressing issues of our time and the resources our great spiritual tradition offers in meeting these
challenges.

The Carmelite Institute was founded in 1993 by the five Carmelite provincials (OCD and O.Carm.) of the United States and Canada, to serve
the needs of the English-speaking Carmelite family in North America. The Institute's 2001 San Antonio Conference on the Rule of Conference was a
great success, and this one promises to be even better! But more registrations are urgently needed for the success of this event. Further
information and registration materials for the upcoming July conference may be found at the Institute's website: www.carmeliteinstitute.org or
by calling the Institute office at 202-635-3534.
