INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION FOR THE STUDY OF THE SPIRITUALITY AND THE CHARISM OF THE ORDER

SIX YEAR PLAN GOALS  |  MEETING SUMMARIES  |  THE MEMBERS

SIX YEAR PLAN GOALS

◊ To appoint a General Commission for Spirituality and Formation with two main aims:

- To bring to completion the publication of the installments of the Spiritual Directory and promote their distribution and experimentation in the Provinces in the field of formation.

- To look for strategies for Initial and On-Going Formation: two courses for formators will be organized during the coming six years (proposal approved by the General Chapter).

◊ To seek ways and means of giving priority to formation to religious and Carmelite life up to the time of Solemn Profession. By June 2002, the Commission will present to the General Council a program for formators and a program of preparation for Solemn Profession.

◊ To complete the Ratio Studiorum

◊ To collect strategies and methods for the study of the RIVC (Proposal approved by the General Chapter) and of the Constitutions in the Provinces with the aim of publishing a guide to help communities to deepen our understanding and apply the documents of the Order.

◊ To appoint someone responsible for On-going Formation courses open to the whole Carmelite Family.

To continue research on the charism, particularly on the Rule: history of interpretations, especially over the last thirty years; the significance of the Rule in the post-modern world; symbolical reading of the Rule.

◊ The General Council will embark on a process of renewal of community life at all levels. An evaluation of this process will be discusses at the General Congregation of 2005.

◊ The General Council will propose a study of the problems concerning authority as a means of putting into practice the documents of the Order on our charism (RIVC, Constitutions, Rule, and Commentaries).

◊ The General Council will suggest criteria for discernment concerning the new forms of community life (Proposal approved by the General Chapter).

To begin preparations for the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Formula Vitae (Proposal approved by the General Chapter)

To begin preparations for the celebration in 2007 of the Fourth Centenary of the death of St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi (Proposal approved by the General Chapter).
