Mª Mercè Noguer i Ferrarons, O. Carm. (BAN)

The Carmelites nuns of Banyoles (Girona), Spain announced the death of Sr. Mª Mercè Noguer on June 27, 2004. She was born on December 18, 1927 in Cors (Girona) and made profession in the monastery of Banyoles on August 12, 1961. She lived as a Carmelite for 43 years.


Maria Gabriella di San Giuseppe Miraglia, O. Carm. (OST)

The Carmelite nuns of the monastery of Ostuni, Italy mourn the death of Sr. Maria Gabriella di San Giuseppe on July 13, 2004. She was Lucia Miraglia in the world.

Sr. Maria was born in Taranto on December 13, 1929 into a large family. She attended a Carmelite parish, became a member of the Third Order, and in 1949 entered the monastery. She made her first profession on October 26, 1950.

For many years she served the community as prioress but also held a variety of responsibilities.


Bonifácio (José) Bezerra de Araújo, O.Carm. (Pern)

Br. Bonifácio Bezerra de Araújo, a member of the Pernambuco Province, died on July 28, 2004. He was born on October 1, 1916. He made his first profession on October 1, 1955. He was residing at the Carmelite monastery in Recife at the time of his death.

Br. Bonifácio suffered for several years with cancer. His condition worsened in the final weeks. He is remembered by his community for his poverty, austerity, simplicity, silence, and, above all, for his love of the Eucharist.


Juan Amorós Andrés, O. Carm. (Arag)

Fr. Juan Amorós, a member of Commissariat of the Antilles of the Arago-Valentine Province died on August 16, 2004 in Puerto Rico. He was 72 years old.

Born on April 12, 1932, Fr. Juan made his profession in 1947 and was ordained priest in the Seminary of San Carlos in Zaragoza on April 9, 1955. He was trained in sacred music at the University of Salamanca.

From 1969 he worked in the Commissariat of the Antilles. For 20 years he was in Ciales. At the time of his death, he was a member of the community in Añasco, Puerto Rico.


Nuño(Gregorio) Benito Sanz, O. Carm. (Cast)

Br. Nuño Benito, a member of the Castille Province died on August 24, 2004 in El Henar-Cuéllar (Segovia), Spain. He was 76 years old.


Ryszard Bryg, O. Carm. (Pol)

Fr. Ryszard (Wincenty) Bryg, a member of the Polish Province, died in Cracow on the evening of August 26, 2004 following a long illness. He was born in Pilzno on September 9, 1933 and made first profession on July 31, 1950. He served the Order as the Assistant General for the German-Dutch speaking assistancy 1971-1977.


John Donohue, O. Carm. (PCM)

Fr. John Donohue of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary died in mid September, 2004. He was born on March 26, 1921 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He made his first profession with the Carmelites on August 15, 1945 and was ordained priest on June 5, 1948.


Lambert Yore, O. Carm. (PCM)

Fr. Lambert Yore, member of the PCM Province, died early on October 11, 2004. He was a member of the Whitefriars Hall community in Washington, DC.

Fr. Lambert was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 31, 1921. He made his first profession of vows in Carmel on August 15, 1939 and was ordained priest on May 20, 1945. He worked primarily in the retreat ministry and had retired to the Whitefriars community a few years ago. He was buried in Chicago.
