First Profession in France Since French Revolution
Solemn Profession of Yves de Sainte Marie in Nantes, France

On October 18, 2003, Br. Yves de Sainte Marie (Jean Beaupere) made his Solemn Profession in the hands of the Prior General, Fr. Joseph Chalmers. Br. Yves, a native of Nantes, is the first Carmelite to make his Solemn Profession in France since the French Revolution (1789).

Also present were the Vice General, Fr. Carlo Cicconetti, the Councilor General of the Mediterranean Region, Fr. Rafael Leiva Sánchez, the General Delegate for France, Fr. Klaus Schenkelberger, and all of the religious of the houses in Nantes, Angers, the hermitage in Villefranche de Rouergue, the Polish Carmelites from Bourges, the family of Br. Yves, the Third Order of Nantes, and numerous of the faithful who frequent the Carmelite church of Notre Dames des Lumieres in Nantes.
