Francis Mifsud, O. Carm. (Mel)

On Tuesday 11th July 2006, Fr Francis Mifsud, of the Maltese Carmelite Province, passed peacefully away, at the age of 81 years.

Francis Saviour Mifsud was born in Hamrun, Malta, on 13th March 1925. He made his Simple Profession on 6th October 1956 in the Tuscan Province and was ordained priest on June 29, 1959.

He served in Florence, Castellina and Forlì, and was a Provincial Councillor before transferring to the Maltese Province. In Malta, he was a member of the communities of Fgura and Fleur-de-Lys, Santa Venera, and Milazzo in Sicily.

M. Maddalena del Volto Santo, O. Carm. (VET) 

On July 29, 2006 Sr. M. Maddalena del Volto Santo (Raffaela Panza) died. She was a member of the enclosed Carmelite community in Vetralla, Italy.

Sister was born on May 9, 1926 in Manfredonia (Foggia) and she made her Simple Profession on May 7, 1952.

Giljan Calleja, O. Carm. (Mel)

On Wednesday 9th August 2006, Fr Giljan Calleja of the Maltese Province passed peacefully away, at the age of 74 years.

Father Giljan was born in Valletta, Malta, on 3rd January 1932, and was given the name Paul. He made his Simple Profession on 16th October 1949 and was ordained priest on 25th February 1956.

For many years, Father Giljan was a member of the Carmelite communities in Valletta, Mdina, and Santa Venera.

Fulgentius Siki Sanz Keitimu, O. Carm.  (Indo)

Fr. Fulgentius Siki Sanz Keitimu, O. Carm., a member of the Indonesian Province, died in Malang on August 23, 2006 at the age of 61. He was born in Wetakara-Maumere, Flores, Indonesia on August 29, 1945. He made his simple profession in Batu-Malang on August 28, 1966 and Solemn Profession in Batu-Malang on August 26, 1971. He was ordained priest in Maumere-Flores on July 28, 1974.

Augustin Wolf, O. Carm. (GerS)

Fr. Augustin Wolf was born on May 7, 1940 at Gleiwitz (Oberschlesien), Poland. He made his Simple Profession on September 29, 1962 at Springiersbach, Germany and his Solemn Profession on September 29, 1965 at Bamberg, Germany. On July 29, 1967 he was ordained priest.

Two years after his Ordination he was sent to the Commissariat in Brazil. He served the Order and the people in Brazil 38 years through various comunity offices and his pastoral work in various parishes.

He died on August 28, 2006 at the age of 66 years.

Robert Flaherty, O. Carm. (PCM) 

Fr. Robert Flaherty was born on August 22, 1917 in Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. He made his Simple Profession on August 15, 1943. On June 7, 1947 he was ordained priest.

He died on September 28, 2006 at the age of 89 years.

Isidoro (Marcos) Garrido Muñoz, O. Carm (Cast)

   Fr. Isidoro Garrido, member of the Castille Province, died on September 30, 2006. He was 90 years old.

   Fr. Isidoro was born in Galve de Sorbe (Guadalajara), Spain, on March 13, 1916. He made his simple profession on September 11, 1934 in Onda (Castellón) and was ordained priest on December 25, 1942 in Segovia.

Wim Tops, O. Carm (Neer)

Fr. Wim Tops, member of the Carmelite community in Zenderen, The Netherlands,  died on October 3, 2006. He was 85 years old.

Fr. Wim was born on April 5, 1921 in Groenlo. He made his simple profession on September 15, 1941 and was ordained priest on July 13, 1947.

Ernest Larkin, O. Carm (PCM)

Fr. Ernest Larkin, member of the Carmelite community in Phoenix, Arizona and the PCM Province, died on October 26, 2006. He was 84 years old.

Fr. Ernie was born on August 19, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois (USA). He made his simple profession on August 15, 1940 and was ordained priest on June 8, 1946.

Fr. Ernest was a noted scholar and writer, especially in the area of Carmelite spirituality. He founded the Kino Institute for the Diocese of Phoenix as an innovative program of religious education for members of the Diocese.
