Extraordinary Elective Chapter of Carmelite Monastery in Guiguinto, The Philippines

Following the death of the prioress of the monastery, Mother Leticia Giron de la Cruz, the members of the Carmelite Monastery of the Holy Family in Guiguinto, Bulacan, Philippines, held an Extraordinary Elective Chapter on March 15, 2005. The diocesan Bishop presided at the Chapter. Those elected during the chapter were:

Prioress: Mother Mª Recelia de Jesus Garcia, O. Carm.

1st Councilor: Sr Mª Cristo Rey Cruz, O. Carm.

2nd Councilor: Sr Mª Theresita of the Holy Face A’ Jose, O. Carm.

3rd Councilor  and Directress of Formation: Sr Mª Carmeli of the Sacred Heart Jesus Hilario, O. Carm.

4th Councilor: Sr Mª del Henar Rodrigo, O. Carm.


Chapter of Carmelite Monastery in Seville, Spain

On April 20, 2005 the Carmelite nuns of the monastery of Santa Ana in Seville, Spain celebrated their triennial chapter. Elected were:

Chapter of Carmelite Monastery in Valls, Spain

From April 22 - 23, 2005 the Carmelite nuns of the Monastery of the Presentation in Valls (Taragona), Spain celebrated their triennial chapter. The Archbishop of Tarragona, Mons. Jaime Pujol, presided. Those elected were:

Chapter of the Province of Catalonia

The Chapter of the Carmelites of the Catalonian Province was celebrated April 28-30, 2005 in Barcelona, Spain. The Chapter was presided over by Joseph Chalmers, the Prior General of the Order. He was assisted by the General Councilor of the Mediterranean Region, Rafael Leiva Sánchez.

The government of the Province, following the Chapter, will consist of the following members:

Chapter of the Dutch Province

The Chapter of the Dutch Province was celebrated May 19-22, 2005, with the Prior General, Joseph Chalmers, presiding. He was assisted by the General Councilor for Northern and Central Europe, William J. Harry.

Elected during the Chapter were: Ben Wolbers, O. Carm., Prior Provincial. Elected to the Council were: Huub Welzen, O. Carm., Eef van Vilsteren, O. Carm., Kees Waaijman, O. Carm., Tjeu Timmermans, O. Carm.,  Tom Buitendijk, O. Carm., George Zeegers, O. Carm., and Jo Goosens, O. Carm.


Chapter of the Carmelite Monastery in Burgos, The Philippines

On May 16, 2005, His Excellency Most Rev. Jesus A. Cabrera, bishop of Alaminos, presided over the election of prioress of the Nuns of the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Burgos, Pangasinan.  The results of the chapter are the following:

Sr. Ma. Elena Tolentino was postulated as prioress. The postulation was accepted and approved by the Prior General with the consent of his Council.

1st Councilor and Director of Formation - Sr. Ana Maria Bernardo, O. Carm.

2nd Councilor - Sr. Ma. Susana Garcia, O. Carm.

Treasurer - Sr. Ma. Rowena Bumacod, O. Carm.

Chapter of the Carmelite Monastery of Hudson (USA)

The Carmelite monastery of the Sacred Heart in Hudson (USA) had their Elective Chapter on May 25, 2005, the feast of Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi. Bishop Raphael Fliss of the Diocese of Superior, Wisconsin, presided.

Those elected were:

Prioress: Lucia LaMontagne, O. Carm.

First Councillor: Mary O’Neill, O. Carm.

Second Councillor: Gemma Angelo, O. Carm.

Treasurer: Gemma Angelo, O. Carm.

Mistress of Novices: Mary O’Neill, O. Carm.


Chapter of the Neapolitan Province

On June 13 - 16, 2005 the Chapter of the Neapolitan Province (Southern Italy) was celebrated. The Vice General, Carlo Cicconetti, presided with the assistance of Rafael Leiva Sánchez, General Councilor for the Mediterranean Region. Those elected to serve the Province were:

The Chapter of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Province (USA/Canada/Peru/Mexico) was celebrated June 20 - 24, 2005, under the presidency of the Prior General, Joseph Chalmers, and with the assistance of the General Councilor for North America, William J. Harry. Elected were:
