Monastery of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - Mayagüez, PR

The Elective Chapter of the Monastery of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico was held from February 4 -March 13, 2003. The Bishop of the Diocese presided. The following were elected:

First Councilor: Marisel Teresita Negrón Arroyo, O.Carm.
Second Councilor: Ivette del Carmen Mediavilla Maldonado, O.Carm.

The General Commissariat of "La Bruna" (Naples) celebrated their Chapter May 19-23, 2003 in the Carmelite residence of the "Carmine Maggiore" in Naples. The following were elected:

1st Councilor:  Luigi Nasta, O. Carm.
2nd Councilor: Salvator Zurolo, O. Carm.

Elective Chapter of the Aracena Carmelite Monastery - Spain

On May 20, 2003 the Elective Chapter of the Carmelite monastery of Aracena (Huelva), Spain, was held with the following elected to serve: 

Prioress: María Mercedes García Ontiveros, O.Carm.
1st Councilor: María Isabel Mejías García, O.Carm.
2nd Councilor: Beatriz Prados Toledano, O.Carm.
3rd Councilor: Mª de los Angeles de la Osa Ortega, O.Carm.

The Carmelite Province of Poland, during their Provincial Chapter in the Krakow, held elections for provincial leadership on May 27, 2003. The following were elected:

Prior Provincial: Leszek Pawlak, O. Carm.
1st Councilor: Andrzej Zonko, O. Carm.
2nd Councilor: Bogdan Meger, O. Carm.
3rd Councilor: Dariusz Borek, O. Carm.
4th Councilor: Zbigniew Czerwien, O. Carm.

During the Chapter held on 25th of April 2003 and presided by Prior Provincial Fr. Christian Körner O.Carm. the nuns of the monastery Erlangen, Germany, postulated Sr. Thoma Müller O.Carm. as prioress. This postulation was granted by the Prior General and his Council on 1st May 2003.

    On 14th of May 2003 the nuns elected were:

1st Councilor: Theresia Kretschmann O.Carm.
2nd Councilor: Bernadette Krämer O.Carm.
Bursar: Pia Janko O.Carm.
Novicemaster: Thoma Müller O.Carm.

The Provincial Chapter of the Italian Province was celebrated June 2-13, 2003. The Prior General, Joseph Chalmers, and the Vice General, Carlo Cicconetti, alternated as president of the assembly with the assistance of Rafael Leiva, the Councilor General for the Mediterranean Region. The Chapter took place at "Il Carmelo" in Sasssone (Rome).

First Councilor: Giandomenico Meloni, O.Carm.
Second Councilor: Lucio M. Zappatore, O.Carm.
Third Councilor: Giuseppe Basile, O. Carm.

Mariano Cera, O.Carm. was named Assistant Provincial by the Provincial.

The Chapter of the Province of Ireland (Hib, Zim) was celebrated June 15-20, under the presidency of the Prior General, Joseph Chalmers, and with the assistance of General Councilor William J. Harry.
