Monastery of "María Madre de la Iglesia" in La Vega, Dominican Republic

On July 25, 2005, the Carmelite Monastery of "María Madre de la Iglesia" in La Vega, Dominican Republic, celebrated its triennial Elective Chapter. The meeting was presided over by Bishop Antonio Camino González. Elected were:

On Thursday, October 6, 2005, the Carmelite nuns of the monastery of ‘Madre de Dios’ in Fontiveros (Ávila), Spain, celebrated their triennial Elective Chapter.

Elected during the Chapter were:

Commissariate of the Maltese Province in Bolivia

The chapter of the Bolivian Commissariate of the Maltese Province was celebrated at our house in Tarija, Bolivia, from 29th August through 2nd September 2005. The Provincial, Sandro Vella, presided. He was accompanied by Charles Mallia, Provincial Councillor.

Garvin Grech was elected Commissary, and Geerman Mamani Condori and José Farrugia were elected Councilors.


Monastery of ‘Mare de Deu del Carme’ in Vilafranca del Penedés (Barcelona), Spain

The Carmelite nuns of the monastery of ‘Mare de Deu del Carme’ in Vilafranca del Penedés (Barcelona), Spain, held their triennial elective chapter on October 13-17, 2005. Bishop Agustín Cortes Sariano, of the Diocese of Sant Feliú de Llobregat, presided. The following were elected:

1st Councilor: Sr Josefa Francesca Castells Camins, O. Carm.

Renewal of the General Council of the Congregation of the Carmelitane delle Grazie

The General Chapter of the Carmelitane delle Grazie was held in the Congregation’s motherhouse in Bologna, Italy, from October 29 - November 2, 2005. Fr. Emanuele Boaga, O. Carm., presided.

Mother Maria Paolina Del Vecchio was confirmed as the Superior General. Sr Maria Giovanna Peghetti (Vicar), Sr Maria Daniela Adornetto, Sr Maria Carla Resta and Sr Maria Gianfranca Faraci were elected to the General Council.
The General Chapter asked the Lord’s blessing upon the ministry of His Holiness Benedict XVI. Thanks were also given to the Prefect of the Congregation for Religious, the Archbishops and Bishops which welcome the apostolic work of the Carmelites, and to the Prior General and the Prior Provincial of the Italian Province.

The Chapter gave a great deal of attention to the future of the Congregation, focusing on the positive aspects of the apostolate along the lines foreseen by the foundress, Servant of God Maria Maddalena Mazzoni, whose diocesan process of canonization is concluding.

It highlighted the benefits received from recent initiatives of the Congregation, in particular the magazine Rallegratevi and with the book series which has now reached the fourth annual volume.

Part of the program focused on the memory of the namesake of the Congregation: St. Mary Magdelene de’ Pazzi, since May 13, 2007 is the fourth century of her death.
