María del Milagro Pérez Herrero, O. Carm. (SLC)

Sr. María del Milagro Pérez Herrero, O. Carm., member of the Carmelite community of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, died on September 22, 2006.

She was born on March 31, 1916 in León, Spain and made her simple profession in Carmel on March 25, 1940.

On December 25, 1954, along with six other sisters, she departed from the Carmelite monastery of Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas in Madrid in order to make the foundation of the first Carmelite monastery in the Dominican Republic.

She lived the Carmelite spirituality each day with deep faith in God.


Maria do Coração de Jesus Morales de los Rios y Mendes Rosa, O. Carm (MON)

Sr. María do Coração de Jesus Morales de los Rios y Mendes Rosa, O. Carm., member of the Carmelite community of Sagrada Familia in Moncorvo, Portugal, died on January 27, 2007.

She was born on March 7, 1924 in Lisbon, Portugal and made her simple profession in Carmel on November 25, 1954.

Sr. Maria was the first vocation of the monastery of Moncorvo, which had been founded in 1947 by the Carmelite nuns of the monastery of S. Ana in Seville, Spain.


Ireneo Ciuffi, O. Carm. (Ita)

Fr. Ireneo Ciuffi, 83 years old, died on February 10, 2007. He was a member of the Italian Province of Carmelites.

He was born in Casette (MS) on September 1, 1923. He made his simple profession on August 7, 1943 and was ordained priest on September 23, 1950.


Hugh Clarke, O. Carm. (Brit)

Fr. Hugh Clarke, 86 years old, died on February 19, 2007. He was a member of the British Province and lived in the Carmelite community in East Finchley, London.

He was born in Dublin, Ireland on November 8, 1920. He was ordained priest in the Diocese of Southwark on May 26, 1945. After some years in education, he asked to join the Carmelites and made his simple profession on September 8, 1968.


Simone Zanone, O. Carm. (Ita)

Br. Simone Zanone, 98 years old, died on February 19, 2007. He was a member of the Italian Province and of the Carmelite community in Santa Marinella, near Rome.

He was born in Naples on January 15, 1909. He made his simple profession on October 5, 1939.


Gerald Heinen, O. Carm. (PCM)

Fr. Gerald Heinen, 82 years old, died on February 19, 2007. He was a member of the PCM Province and of the Carmelite community in Teaneck, New Jersey.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 19, 1925. He made his simple profession on August 15, 1944 and was ordained priest on June 6, 1950.


Maria Fais, O. Carm. (SOG)

Sr. Maria Faise, 77 years old, died on February 22, 2007. She was a member of the Carmelite community in the enclosed monastery of Sogliano al Rubicone in Italy.

Sister was born in Bonarcado (Cagliari) on April 11, 1929. She made her simple profession on December 8, 1953.


John Columba Fogarty, O. Carm. (PCM)

Fr. John Columba Fogarty, 82 years old, died on March 9, 2007 in Venice, Florida. He was a member of the PCM Province.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 15, 1925. He made his simple profession on August 15, 1944 and was ordained priest on June 6, 1950. He ministered in the province’s schools, and parishes and was a Campus Minister at two universities.


Kevin Shanley, O. Carm. (PCM)

Fr. Kevin Shanley, 75 years old, died on February 25, 2007. He was a member of the PCM Province and of the Carmelite community in Aylesford, Illinois.

He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 17, 1931. He made his simple profession on August 30, 1950 and was ordained priest on June 26, 1956.

For many years. Fr. Kevin was involved in the communications program of the province.


Maria del Amparo Ibáñez Aguado, O. Carm. (MAD)

Sr. Maria del Amparo, 92 years old, died on February 26, 2007. She was a member of the Carmelite community in the enclosed monastery of Nuestra Senora de Maravillas in Madrid, Spain.

Sister was born in Santander on March 25, 1915. She made her simple profession on December 9, 1942. She lived religious life for 65 years as prioress, director of novices, and councilor.


Reinald Knibbeler, O. Carm. (GerI)

Fr. Reinald Knibbeler, a member of the Carmelite community in Mainz, died on March 27 following a long period of illness. He was 79 years old.

Fr. Reinald was born on July 5, 1927 in Brunssum, Netherlands. He made his simple profession in Boxmeer on September 4, 1950 and was ordained priest on July 15, 1956. In 1961 he went to Germany to be part of what is now the Lower German Province.


Hilaria van Nistelrooy, O. Carm. (ERL)

Sr. Hilaria van Nistelrooy, 89 years old, died on March 31, 2007. She was a member of the Carmelite community in the enclosed monastery in Erlangen, Germany.

Sister was born in Heesch, Netherlands, on June 16, 1917. She made her simple profession on September 12, 1944 in the Carmelite monastery in Boxmeer, Netherlands. In 1949 she transferred to the monastery in Schlüsselau, Germany, which had been founded the previous year from Boxmeer. In October 1969, that community founded the monastery in Erlangen.


Lluís Torras i Comas, O. Carm. (Cat)

Fr. Lluís Torras i Comas, a member of the Catalonian Province, died on April 5, 2007. He was 87 years old.

Fr. Lluís was born on November 18, 1919 in Barcelona, Spain. He made his simple profession on September 24, 1941 and was ordained priest on June 23, 1946.


Mª Pilar Linares Muñoz, O. Carm. (ANT)

Sr. Mª del Pilar Linares Muñoz, 83 years old, died on April 11, 2007. She was a member of the Carmelite community in the enclosed monastery in Antequera (Málaga), Spain.

Sister was born on October 9, 1923 in Cuevas Bajas (Málaga), Spain. She made her simple profession on February 16, 1950 and her solemn profession on February 16, 1953.
